Looking after ourselves can be tricky.
The pressure of life, work, families, relationships, housing, bills a lot. Eating well, doing the laundry, cleaning is a lot. Adultulting is a lot. And then there’s all those pesky emotions.
Self care can be the thing that we sacrifice to keep our heads above water. And I’m not just talking about having a bath with candles self care. I’m talking about making sure you care for yourself and are nurtured and nourished, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
What am I mithering on about?
there are loads of ways we can get out of balance and all of that affects the whole of us. not only is mental health as important as physical health. Each affects the other.
Did you know that when you cry your tears help your brain to produce oxytocin, and other endorphins. These feel-good chemicals can help ease both physical and emotional pain. Once the endorphins are released, your body may go into somewhat of a numb stage. Oxytocin can give you a sense of calm or well-being. It is a sort of catharsis, a way to purge pent up emotions, to help you stay healthy and release stress.
And just like the earth outside influences such as pollution can cause a disturbance in your eco-system. And I’m not just talking about what you eat, I’m talking about how you think and talk about yourself, the people you have around you, and how you respond to these things.
Our emotions can throw us off the beam, just as much as food alcohol, or drugs
When was the last time you had a good cry or do you think crying makes you weak? How do you feel about being angry? Is that something other people do? Is anxiety crippling you? Do you hate your job or do you just feel stuck in some way? Are you confused about what you want and need out of life right now? Are you in a transition? Or are you struggling to have boundaries with your family?
For me before these kind of things become the things that are making me physically ill, I use homeopathy. with its amazing mix of being able to talk things through and remedies to help between appointments it really does rock. For me having the space to be listened to and having a physical remedy to take home has always been top.
